I long time read this topic "RAILONLY RANKING RULES". I can not find an answer, not because i'm stupid Happy

Where show cvar "value":

rate
snaps
cl_maxpackets
cl_timenudge
com_maxfps

I have long believed that these values should be at all players:

rate "25000"
snaps "40"
cl_maxpackets "125"
cl_timenudge "0"
com_maxfps "125"

This is not a complete list of values to be equal for all players. But people often put on the clanwars are totally different values referring that it is allowed. By whom?

I'm assuming that some administrators can't configure on their server pb

example c4 server:

Re: Question about ranking rules

There is no ranking rule as well as no pbsv.cfg rule.

Standart pbsv.cfg includes values like you posted in the screenshot.

However it may not include such values at all.

There is no rule about mandatory settings for snaps, cl_maxpackets, and rate. They are implemented in punkbuster. If you have different settings then pb would kick you. Its simple. If Cup organizers make a rule about it then it should be followed but their rules are no different than rules on pb cvars.

Regards.

Re: Question about ranking rules

Most of the times the cup organizers enforces you to have some interval values for snaps cl_maxpackets etc. If they don't its your problem for signing in into their cup.
In the history of e+ general rank rules we had 1 rule regarding lag problems and there were alot of discutions and ppl didn't liked it. Now we dont have it so the organizers can enforce you to play by their standards.

The common standard values are those which you said yes but these aren't enforced by the e+ general rank rules. These are just the most used and ppl had no problem using them as a common standard.

Re: Question about ranking rules

If its no cup:

These settings are not enforced by anyone.
You could play on a server which enforces you to have some values for these network settings by pb configuration. Since Pb is required by the general rules you will need to have it on.
Also when choosing the server it will need to be agreed by by both clans => in a indirect way you both accept the pb config on that server. Chosing a server that has enforced settings for these network variables would be a good way to start resolving network settings problems.

If you don't like a server you could just say to the other clan: "no we don't like this server because: x,y and lets chose another1"

W.O (walk over) games are not ranked in general rank rules => you always have the right to go away.
After all general ranked games are a way of playing the game and knowing which clan is the best. Noone enforces you to play the cw (no cup, no organizer) its a matter of who is the best between both clans and not who is the most trickier to win the game. And the result will be shown in the rankings Happy

Having an finished general ranked cw between two clans denotes also that those clans respect eachother and also want to learn from eachother. Playing a training game is much different then a real clanwar in almost every aspect. More tension, more seriousness in respecting clan's tactics.
