quake 3 opengl?
xp_nomip is a command that works to make weapon effects look different, from what I understand...
I'm not quite sure how it works, I quickly looked on the forums and I thought I remembered there was a post that explained it all but cant seem to find.
My advice is to play around with it untill its nice... (remember if you type /xp_nomip in the console, it will tell at what value the cvar is set as well as the default value).
BTW: to be a real warrior, cg_truelightning 0
set xp_nomip to 511

about 30 seconds - 1 minute of rendering per frame?
note: thats my moviemaking quality (image is resized to 1/2 size though ) it takes bloddy ages to draw one frame

try searching the gq3.cfg there u got best graffik settings possible on pure servers.
btw cg_shadows is limited to 0 or 1 on pb servers.

well u might force antialaysing and 16x antistrop filtering by drivers.
