Yesterday (few hours ago) I had huge luck (hope so) to get as present one cool gaming mouse (which I already wanted to buy anyway). I got it from husband's friend, but mouse is not new, it's already used. Mouse model is Genius GX DeathTaker. Anyway, all is cool about it, there is only one annoying problem. It's about left mouse click, when I press it not so fast on few random things (not on same stuff), after 2-3 clicks it start count as double click and not only once, few next clicks count as double click. It happen very very often, so it started be so annoying. Please guys, if you have any idea how I can fix this, tell me. Big grin
This is picture from settings which I use right now:

Probably due to dust being in between the left click switch and the hammer of your left click. What you could do is pull the mouse apart and see if there is nothing inbetween the hammer and the click or if you don't want to do that, just put the mouse 90 degrees with its longest side surface on the bottom and just shake it up and down. This should shake the dust off to the side of the mouse Happy.

Let me know how it goes.

I opened it and seems that problem is in hardware (mouses's). Left button seems be defected (probably by time, because is not new mouse). Sad life I guess... Sad

Re: Problem with mouse left click! Please help!

Ok, so, tonight I went to house of my husband's friend again and told him that mouse's left click is kinda damaged. He said np and surprised me when from other room came with same mouse. So we tested second one and we noticed that second one has problem with right click (lol xD). We got idea to mix parts from those both mouses and make one working mouse. And we did it separated mouses on two parts:
1. upper (plastic cover one)
2. bottom (components are on it)

First mouse (which has problem with double left clicking) had broken bottom part (you can see it on this image, it's small white square) and second mouse which I tested tonight has damaged plastic part on upper cover, was kinda worn. So at beginning we want take bottom part from second mouse and combine it with upper (not worn) part from first mouse and make at least one working mouse from this two. So we did it... When we closed both mouses and tested, a miracle happened - both mouses worked perfectly. Really can't explain how, but it's really huge luck. So friend told us to pick one of those for us (me) and second to live him and it was really hard decision for me. I hope I will not regret, but I took the one which has "broken parts". Probably I am insane, but I really started like it last night and I felt it close to my heart <3. Anyway, for now it work awesome (I am using it almost 4h and both clicks works really fine). I think if something start sux again, I will just go to friend and "cry him a river" so he will give me other one. Big grin
Also, since he work in recycling company and from there he "steal" this mouses, he was enough generous and he gave me this other sweethearts also "for reserve"... Tongue

And now... Who can help me to set my new q3config? Big grin
Don't know how to calculate sens, m_pitch and m_yaw. Also I need suggestion which DPI to use. This mouse has kinda weird defaults: 900, 1800, 2700, 4500, 5700. But it has of course his awesome side and it's - you can change this defaults on (almost everything you want). When I started play quake (more then 5 years ago) I used some cheapest Genius mouse which is has very low weight and 800 DPI, something like this and I used to play on default settings:

seta sensitivity "6"

seta cl_mouseAccel "0"

seta m_pitch "0.022000"

seta m_yaw "0.022"
Then more then 3 years ago (november 2010), Fala helped me to set new settings for my "ex new mouse" which was a4tech xl-740k (I got that also one as present now - first red one on image). Fala gave me this 2 suggestion and I picked one for 1600dpi:
for 1600CPI:
sensitivity 1
m_yaw 0.066
m_pitch 0.066

for 2000CPI:
sensitivity 1
m_yaw 0.04125
m_pitch 0.04125

Damn, I am sooooooo lazyyyyyyyy to test now what is perfect solution for me, but seems I will need, because left-right moving mouse is extremly annoying me how slow it is now (I didn't fixed any new config jet)... Confused

Have you tryed to set your new mouse at 1600dpi? If that's what you were using last time with your previous mouse

Milena, when you''re setting up your sensitivity and acceleration (and pitch and yaw) you should always aim towards the most natural instinctive movement of your arm when you're trying to aim.

If you are able to stretch your arm out with your index finger and quickly pull the index finger towards the tip of your nose with total 100% accuracy, then the same thing should be achievable with quake. You just need to test your setting and narrow it down to the parameters that remove the barrier between the mouse and the aim for the kill as much as possible.
