Allright... I changed my settings to that below:

com_maxfps: 80
snaps: 40
rate: 8000
cl_maxpackets: 40
cl_packetdup: 1
cl_timenudge: -5

It didnt improve my ping, but the gameplay seems smoother. It is a lil bit easier to aim. Previously models were "warping" and prediction module in my brain couldnt handle that well Big grin

Stollo I used to have similar problem. But now my connection & pings R OK.

What modem do U use? If it is this one that U get from TPSA (our polish internet provider) this is the problem i think. When i was started with my connection i used such modem and it is ok for browsing www pages ONLY. But i had terrible pings when i was playing.

My brother runs his own IT business, was tried to help me but he couldn't.
Hole problem ended when i bought a router with a modem built in it. It is another expense but i think it was worth it.

I think my earlier modem was only used for connecting to the net, but now a router do all the "managing" work with the connection. And in your case this may be a similar situation. Now your PC have to managing your's connection and that why it is slower becouse a part of yours PC's possibilites is block on that work. Work that should be done by the hardware that is intended to do it. A router is but modem is not.

U don't have to buy it u can just borrow it from someone and try if it is better.

A little bit chaotic but i hope u understood.

Yes I did! Big grin Thx emaciej - I would never suspect that it could be the modem's fault! Indeed I use the standard modem from TPSA (thompson) but I didnt install the original drivers. I use CFOS for managing the traffic. I also tried to switch the Traffic shaping option off, but the transfers were even worse... Your idea about borrowing a router with DSL modem is very good. Ill try to ask some friends for it. Btw I noticed that sometimes the gameplay is VERY smooth even with ping around 110 and sometimes (with the same ping) it is unplayable (models are "warping", no chance to hit the target). Dunno why...

That's it I think. Try router necessarily.
I've read somewhere that unstable ping is the worst. You can play with a high ping, let's say 100, when it's stable. But if it jumps form 50 to 100 it can be impossible.
You say "with the same ping", well i don't know if lagometer is so exact to show everything what is going on with the connetcion. But when your PC have to manage the traffic it can ripp the packets and maybe that's why. I'm not so good about IT so maybe someone else should write down how the router exactly works and what it is doing step by step.

I have a 640 kb/sec connection and you can imagine how much i was pissed off when i saw that i cannot play. So i was sure that connection is ok. And i think you got same situation. I've read also the 128 kb/sec connection is enough to play. Maybe try find something here www.q3arena.gry.wp.pl , as you surely know Happy, it's the biggest polish Q3 portal.

After the changes I made to my config I generally have a really nice gameflow now! No more "warping" of opponents, no more choppy display. I guess that this is mostly thanks to com_maxfps at 80, because now it is set twice the previous value (previously i had it set at 40). If I got the description right this var has a direct influence (together with snaps) on a smoothness of the gameplay. And in fact that prooved to be true. Now playing with a 110 ping is A LOT better that with 80 ping previously! So it seems to me, that a ping below 120 in general is a good ping that allows for smooth gameplay. And the most important thing in getting a satisfying con are these variables. Thx Giblet - your post helped me a lot! Thx emaciej - when I get some free cash to spend ill surely try out your suggestion. WHOAAAA! HELL YES!!!
