Hello,

Is it useful for a game like Quake III Arena to disable the Packet Schedule QoS? I read some suprising things that it allows a part of your bandwidth to the OS and it is a waste of your connexion.
Anyone can enlight me about this?

disable it, it basically allows setting some bandwidth for specific programs.

Btw, quake3 is udp, it works best when absolutely nothing interfers.

qos restrict badwitch to 80% and leve the 20% for trafic managment in case when all conection is taken to send packets with more priority, it does not gives any benifits to disable qos for q3 since q3 uses around 12KB/s at max (upload trafic) so thats real small for most adsl connections, of course if u use ts and q3 and other things u may wiling to get full badwitch if yours connectio upload is less than 512kbps but still I have no problems with ts+q3 at 256kbps...

so disabling qos will not going to improve q3 performance, also idk any good working qos router that will make q3 packets without a lag while connection is taken by other app, so it knid of qos is useless for q3 in both ways, keeping it enabled on router or disabled will not get any pros, hoever it can help in home network when the network is used by more ppl or apps at the same time

Windows Key+R->gpedit.msc->Computer configuration->Administrative template->Network->QoS Packet Scheduler.
