Hi all, new to E+ but not to Quake. Just been looking at the documentation, that is some serious reading to do in the next dew days. I am looking at setting up a LAN server at home for me and the kids for starters, random rotation of maps and different Excessive setups. Quick question though, I can't find any info on this, can the original Team Arena maps be played through E+, be put in a Rotation.txt?

Am looking forward to getting this all done for the kids, then I can show how I kicked ass 20 odd years ago!!!!. and in the process get mine kicked by teenagers.

ya original q3 maps work, add em in rotation.txt and add the weapon configs to the server e+ folder , then from ingame console u do /rcon load configname.cfg

hi, yes every and any quake map can be played, so that includes teamarena maps. yes, add them to the rotation. say if you get stuck and someone can help.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go. Assume the Team Arena maps need to be set up as CTF? not FFA or Tourney etc.?

EDIT: So I got all maps from basic Q3A in and some I downloaded, but cannot manage to get Team Arena Maps to work. Tried copying from MissionPack folder into Baseq3 folder, but program then states that I don't have the missionpack files. I did some searching and quite a few say that TA maps cannot be used in Q3A.

I've managed to get rotation of maps working as well so that it's not the same routine over and over, just need to fine tune gametypes for each map etc.

Is it possible to have bots on different levels? ie: some on Hardocre, some on Hurt Me Plenty, all I seem to have is all on same level.

I think you would have to get the q3ta maps as individual pk3's , and for the bot levels yes you can add bots with different skill level:

/rcon addbot botname skilllvl team msec funname

you can also implement this on the rotation look into documentation about rotation file it shows you how to do it

It's easy enough to add TeamArena maps to \baseq3 mod. If you have an original TeamArena files, then just:

1. Copy pak0.pk3 from \missionpack to \baseq3 with renaming it (f.e. ta-pak0.pk3) to prevent it from substituting the original pak0.pk3 in \baseq3

2. Open your new ta-pak0.pk3 (in \baseq3) and remove the folder 'vm'

You can also remove other not necessary folders: video, botfiles, models/players and so on. Just understand what you do and what for.

There won't be TeamArena weapons and power-ups and something else. But the maps will be playable.

So getting back to topic, I recently read that "Rotation.txt" has an issue if you use too many maps to cycle through. Is there a fix for this? I currently have every Q3A map and every TA map available, set by map type to game type. Seems to work fine for about 10 maps, then just repeats whatever the 10th map is, over and over until I manually callvote map.
Would it be better if I went back to VSTR rotation with no randomness? Or is there a fix?

i think that since u put so many maps in only one txt, better would be to split the txt file or make the rotation panel, its cool and works nice. problem is that i don't got anymore the files of my old server but i might ask a friend bout them, he got tons of maps and no problem. will let u know as soon as i get him in touch. btw i apologize for putting trash in ur topic but as u can see from those ppl...low level Winking

Quake can load *.cfg files up to 16kb

no problem mate, just sorry if gonna take some days but i dunno where is he now, dont see him not on skype nor in quake, mby u know him its LIR, we got WOOF server with custom maps and rotation.txt panel etc, problem is that i don't find where i writted the log in passwords for the ftp server...if i happen to see him i'll get log in from him n let u know asap ))
