You are invited to an evening of serious Individual Quaking.

EVENT: HighOctane Player Cup

DATE: Sunday, 27 April
TIME: Event #1 CountDown Timer ===> 9:00 PM (21:00) EST.
TIME: Event #2 CountDown Timer ===> 11:00 PM (23:00) EST.
ABOUT:
- A multi-game type and multi-game config Player Cup.
FEATURES:
- One (1) game type (Free For All).
- Four (4) game configurations that range from n00b to Pr0 (deexslds, plus, e5r and m0ve).
- A total of eight (
maps. Please note that Server downloads will be turned off during the Player Cup so, please, please, please download the maps in advance. Most people will probably need to download pjw3dm2.pk3 and assault.pk3. Links are provided for all the maps at the bottom of this announcement.- Individual Competition - It's all about your GLORY - Forget teamwork for 1 night.
- Timelimit: Five (5) minutes per map.
- Fraglimit: No Fraglimits.
- 1 minute warm-up / cool down between maps.
- Server kicks Specs after 2 minutes.
ATTENDANCE:
- Simply show up to Event #1 or Event #2. These will be first come first served events on DHF which is a 20 slot server.
WHY:
- There were a lot of complaints that there were not enough slots with previous events like the Map Event and the March Madness FragFest. By having two events in one night, more people will be able to participate and the time slots will appeal to people in different time zones.
If you can sit at the top of the scoreboard at the end of each map over the course of these game types and game configs then you are truly versatile at E+ and a Master of the Eternal Arena.

DHF (64.154.38.103:27960) allows maps and configs to be CallVoted. So, you are welcome to check out any of the maps or any of the configs at your convenience prior to the Player Cup.

Q3DM12.pk3 - This map is part of Q3. There is no download.

It's ok mate! I'll probably do the next on a friday or sunday, and go easier on maps (probably base Quake 3 maps + mkbase)

Spider there are TWO separate events planned.

The 1st event is on Friday, 25 April with starting times of 9:00PM and 11:00PM New York Time.
This event (HighOctane FragFest) is a team based event. There will be 4 gametypes and 5 configs played over a total of 10 maps. There will be no frag limits. Each map is set for a 10 minute time limit.

The 2nd event is on Sunday, 27 April with starting times of 9:00PM and 11:00PM New York Time.
This event (HighOctane Player Cup) is an individual based event. The only gametype will be Free For All, because this event is all about personal glory. There will be 4 configs played over a total of 8 maps. There will be no frag limits. Each map is set for a 5 minute time limit.

The whole purpose of these events is to expose players from the Americas to different configs and different game types.
A stranger to E+ on the American scene would assume that the only game type is Freeze Tag and the only config is Plus or maybe DeeX. There are some exceptions but players from the Americas are more specialized than their Euro counterparts and less versatile in my opinion because they confine themselves to such a narrow area of E+.
The March Madness FragFest which was identical to the upcoming HighOctane FragFest was extremely well attended (the server was full for all 10 maps) and based on the player's posts and server comments was very enjoyable even though it was the first time that most had been exposed to the e5r/m0ve/nwc+ configs and the RTF/1FCTF game types.
It's all about trying new or different things and having fun in the process.

Absolutely. However, this time, I will not have Captains or play with MatchMode.
I am still sorry that I missed the Worlds Collision #1. I went to the server several times between 7:30 and 7:50 New York time and could not get in. It just timed out. Perhaps Kee was preparing the server for the event. Then I went to DeeX where a full server of ppl did not have a clue about the event or seemingly any interest in CTF. Pity.
