I looked under the FAQ and perhaps I missed it...

But once an account is created here, is there anyway to delete the account?

only forum admin can delete your account, tho its not best idea for phpbb, since your posts will remain in db without poster ID, and db layout may suffer.. if you mean and account that has no posts, it can be deleted w/o any problems.

if mean your current acc and you are sure you that you wont use it, you might ask term to disable/inactivate (sth like locking the acc) it, you wont be able to use it no more, and it wont have an hazardous effect to db.
