Ufff i had like 6 HD from Seagate, and all broked up Sad i lost all the info, docs etc...total disaster Sad when i see that brand i just run away Big grin

I got 3 Seagate Barracuda 250 MB in my PC and they are running just fine since October 2006! They are switched on nearly every day, with endless hours of reading and writing (torrents etc.), sometimes running 24 hours and more without the slightest hint of any hardware failure. I never heard anything similar from WD customers! Winking

My 2 cents about the durability of Seagate drives. Happy

I think his went on siesta.

Leo, i think that around €600,- is enough for a good gaming pc ( if you buy it in parts ) then you still have plenty to spent on your girl and future as its more important then "gaming"

( Dutch pricings )
AMD FX-6300 6x 3.5GHz normal, Turbo 6x 4.1GHz for €98,-
ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0 for €62,-

For memory etc. what ever makes you feel best.
Just dont spent to much Winking

Re: Hello Guys

hey zoomstah. its smart to wait for new intel processors which will be released very soon. but i can give you tip for motherboard. buy some gigabyte or asus with Z97 chipset. its ready to support of new CPUs. my recomendation is always the same: "buy the best i5" and saved money for i7 use for better GPU. If you buy K (unlocked) version of CPU, you can "overclock" it and have the same power like i7. for example my old sandy bridge i5-2500k is running on 4GHz (100x40). so turbo feature is disabled and only speedstep reducing CPU frequency to 1600MHz when its idling

new nvidia graphic cards will be released soon also. for example gtx 960 will be something between gtx 680 and 780. It sounds like good performance/price ratio for buy.

Guys, please leave this to people who are actually into the stuff like beazt or me.

Note that the K versions have less Virtualmachine support from my informations.

actually zoom, how about we work on some very exact list of stuff ur pc has to do, since building a PC is one thing, having a silentPC for example is another.
I also highly recommend a 144hz flatscreen for quaking, they are 99% as fast as a crt (but colors arent as optimal).

Ofc you can say dont care, then u can just wrap a up a pc for 600 euros and buy a new one next year.

yes there was the difference with older generations but if you check the latest i5 (i5-4690K) there are all features included: http://ark.intel.com/products/80811/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz?q=i5-4690k

lets wait for the 5th generation. in last few days nvidia released GTX980 and 970. it has new architecture (maxwell). The price of GTX970 doesnt really look bad. Together with upcoming GTX960 this graphic cards will be the best performance/price graphic cards.

btw i have good experience with Phantom series from Gainward. This graphic cards are really silent when idling in windows. It has also plug&play fans -> may be usefull when the warranty is expired. you wont need to buy whole cooler, just swap the fan. but iam not sure how easy or hard is to buy spare fans for this coolers.

For CPU cooling i can recommend scythe coolers. something like ninja or mugen series. it has great performance/price ratio. It was able to cool my non OC i5 without fan. not bad for cca 25€ cpu cooler Happy i remember i was running my setup fanless about 6 months. temperature wasnt higher than 62 or 63°C (i had this temperatures after hours of h264 encoding)

Re: Hello Guys

yeah beazt, the big problem is to keep up to date with all the problems occuring, since everyone tries to confuse people about the problems they have. Big grin

anyways, as u summed up its probably a bad time to buy a pc, the next gen cpus are coming, next gen gfx are coming and next gen ram is coming. And old stuff will be especially expensive before christmas lolo.

Anyways beazt, I spend quite some time building my rig (actually it was a project about my capabilities and likings of a computer instead of just smashing stuff randomly together).

Instead of suming everything up, check this pic:

The case is a cooler master cm690, Average fanspeed is probably 550rpm.
Like or dislike? Big grin
