hello.. i just installed my quake3 arena to c:\QuakeIII i got all the patches up to 1.32c

i cannot connect to the quake3 master server for some reason.. so i downloaded Q-tracker which seems to still find all the servers..

now i go into the q3 settings and turned on automatic downloading. i did this in excessive and also regular quake3 and when i use Q-tracker to join a server i usually get a error saying i need to enable automatic downloading.. than blah blah map not found.

i also found instructions here to make your own config file in the excessive plus directory named autoexec.cfg with wordpad and followed the instructions and added all the lines...

the players who i see online are not green and are not tankjr.. although i added the lines for that.

the only change i noticed when doing this was seeing the framerate at the top right corner. and this is only when im playing excessive-singleplayer.. the framerate will not show in online matches..

what am i doing wrong, and why cant i use the in game server browser?? it was working a few days ago.

Hello phoenix334,
About your problem with the excessiveplus you need to install the excessiveplus Mod in your quake 3 game.

you can play excessiveplus mod without this installation but if you want to have these features like enemyColors, enemyModels, fancy tags, huds and so on you need to install excessive plus ..
To do that its not hard you need to get this archive:

Excessive Plus v2.1 for Quake III Arena
and extract it in your quake 3 directory

i forgot to mention.

i did install excessive 2.1 the installer should have 3 files and a folder right? the 3 files are all MS-DOS Batch files xp dedicated, server, and singleplayer right???

and the folder should have abunch of files..

i copied all that into my q3 folder

master server has been down but running again should find servers now its back up and running

i guess all i had to do was restart my computer because it seems to be working now.. and also i had to add the tankjr and green color in a different cfg file.. i had to put it in the q3config.cfg file and not the one that the guide tells you to make called autoexec.cfg

didnt want to make a new thread already for this.. i hope sombody can help..

me and my brother both want to play q3 online together. but when we join the server it kicks the other one of us. whomever was already in.. we are both playing on the same internet connection through a router..

is there something we need to configure?

try specifying different net_qport on the other q3 client.

useing a different net port didnt seem to help..

i found out that when the other person goes to browse for servers it immediately kicks the person already online.

so i dont think it is server specific. which means its some kind of quake or router problem i think.

did you try net_port or net_qport? you should use the latter - it is there just in case of using router/network address translator. you must specify different values of net_qport for all your q3clients which are connecting a server through your router.
