Hi,

I am kind of new to quake 3, only played it for about 6 months and still have much to learn.

A simple question for all you veterans out there:

How in the world do some people switch weapons so fast? I mean ok, some people are great players and it takes a lot of practice but oh my f***g god they are like pianists!

Are there some kind of weapons binding I have missed? Each of my waepons are binded to one key, 1 weapon = 1 key. The fast players are like they press one key and all the weapons just fire after each other.

please teach.... and show me a good config on this. And if I the players really have 1 key equals just 1 weapon then WOW...

I think the most of us use one key for one weapon, like "Q" = shotgun.
And about the switching, all you have to do is actually just shoot, shift weapon, shoot, shift weapon, shoot. No magic!

depends on what config u played well the weapon switch becomes a habit for most

liquid funk!

im not great at it but id say

BIND Q
BIND E

and maybe some mouse side button etc
it take practice to switch effectively imo and not just random shit switch

some people use forbidden switch scripts for autoswitching, but that arent that much.
in plus/bro.cfg the people simply switch shoot switch etc.
in excessive5 its a lot of training, some idiots use mousewheel for switching the weapons, other people have binded their weapons near aswd and on there mouse, since with 2 hands u can switch faster (what isnt needed in bro/plus)

TBH I think alot more people are using switch scripts that are letting on, But in the case of quick switching I think the key factors would be practice, your connecton and more practice

I say conection becuase I have a crap conection and sometimes my weapons dont shoot or switch as fast as they would on a good conection

I think most people only use 1 key man.. You just need to practice alot and alot.. It's true that the excessive5.cfg switching IS excessive.. but that's part of the fun of this config. Good luck whit practicing

i personally have a problem, i switch my weapons with binds such as q, e, f, shift, but it takes time to shoot after i switch, it takes a second after the switch, thats why i am fucking killed all the time.. any ideas what the problem may be?
