Would it make a difference on connection if my modem was to be in another room? ATM I have cable internet and I have no cable outlets in my room so I am just running a CAT5 cable from my computer to the modem which is about 100 feet away from my computer. Does data run just as fast through CAT5 cable as it would a coaxle cable? And would that affect how my connection and such would react?
Cuz I remember a year ago when I used to have great pings in USA, but lately they have been rather on the high side and not always stable. But a year ago I had my modem right next to my computer and it was low then. But now that it is in different room, it has been higher. So that made me curious to ask this question. I know its dumb, but hey, it just shows the intelligence this guy has lol. JK. Just not very knowledable with this sort of stuff, so is why I ask others. Cheers. Cool

simply. UTP cable can be long up to 100m with minimal loss. Coaxial have to be always the most short how is possible because of big loss (resistance). So if you need move your comp, make longer cable between modem and PC Winking

And now in the past couple of days I have been getting this weird lagg on all servers. Takes like 5 tries for a BFG jump, rocket and nade jumping not working. I can have a 80 ping, but feels like 400. Not sure what is going on. Thinking Crying
