Feature suggestion: Ability for server owners to enforce client settings for the basic netsettings: rate, maxpackets and snaps on their server.

Might help new players to experience a smooth gameplay, since not every1 know commands or even how to open console. Happy

could pose as a problem
as some people lag with packets to 125 or 100
or a certain snaps value

but it's a good suggestion
could be useful for rate and timenudge (as timenudge isn't really needed, just used by some guys to cheat so we cant shoot them)

Maybe the defaults can be changed so the values don't have to be enforced, or can be dynamically calculated for best performance so people who's connection doesn't work well with the default won't have a crappy experience.

As far as I know, from what I read in E+ FAQ, nudge doesnt give you an advantage in a sense that you are saying - because you as a enemy model look normal on server but it does make your enemys appear more/less laggy ...but for a reason.

Pb doesnt allow it but its not a cheat as it says there in FAQ.

And some minimum forcing of setings should be enabled like (at least) snaps 30 - and maybe minimum maxpackets of 65-70 should be forced so it does some good with lag but dont conflicts too much with types of connections.

how less u know about maxpackets and timenudge...
timenudge isnt allowed by the EN pb cfg which is the best in e+ imo. it has its reasons and im not up for digging exact meaning, however, there is no need for it with unlagged.
and maxpackets should be fps synchron, on another note, on 65 it traffics less then on 63 if i remember right, min value for sv_fps 20 is 30 maxpackets to have a totally smooth gaming.

The information you have to deal with is not up to date, nothing can change this. As long as a player is moving straight in one direction, the prediction of his position is no problem. cg_smoothClients does not help here, because it just makes no sense to extrapolate and then do the contrary by adding 4 ms local lag (for 125 fps: 8 ms (frame) / 2 = 4 ms). Set this always to 0, if you're playing with a negative cl_timenudge.

It's up to you, if you find shaking models worth the little difference.

As for the MaxPackets values...well I dont plan to discuss anything with U since U know more (I, for one, never managed some server or did settings concerning this).
But I can tell U from my experience that I got lower ping with higher packets, even if my packet loss was eliminated with small increase - thats why I (and many others keep it at 125)...and I know some ppl who had small lag despite increasing their packets just above default (not over 50) and they had it until they increased it even more. So yes, I suggest at least 63 or more for all, on servers 125 to ppl so sue me....
