Hey there. It's been some time but lately i want to play E+ again but arguing 'bout performance.
running XP on a core2duo @ 2.4 + gf 8800. therefore, min. system req. should be fullffilled. while playing I notice a lag of avg. 1/2 sec freeze ever ca. 4 secs. Tho I quitted almost every application running, also my non-beein active virus scanner. I noticed this comeup on my old machine when I used to play e+ while having opera runnig. but these days are past after upgrading and now I am just wondering what the heck is wrong with my machine. While checking the task man during gameplay I didnt notice anything what could effect my ping-drop. net settings should be working fine with the 16 mbit connec I am having here. I strugle with those lags, anyway. what could be the fu**ing matter, anyway?

I want to excuse for my weiered eng and those thousands of shortcuts, first. It;s just I'm kinda filled up and wonder if you have ever experienced this kinda mess.

Oh, and if fireman asks, ill be back in quart a year. hope he can stay so long. any1 who understands what I'm talking about will tell him, soon, i guess.
anyways.... plz help me out and let me know if you have a reasonable anwer for those fu**ing lags i dont know where they come from..
anywayz, again. its almost 4 oc am here, so have a nice sleep, but when you wake up.. let me know if you know an answer.

lol

taskmanager --> quake3.exe --> zugehörigkeit festlegen --> core 0/1

the problem is only th dual core. start quake and give quake only one core, its nothing wrong with your computer Big grin

Ok, my expression of joy was maybe a bit hasty. It doesn't get better, it gets worse.

...you are running movies and 3d graphics software in the background...?
Even though it's almost the only word I can think about right now I'm not going to ask "WHY?????", but you should consider trying to... not do that. My computer, although absolutely decent with dualcore (amd though) and 8800 and whatnot, is not a happy camper in games if there are movies in the background (and I'm even talking 320x240 with no fancy codec here, which I tried just because a vid had cool music that I didn't have on mp3). It just doesn't work here.

Something that may or may not be related... Sometimes I just have really bad lags, exactly as you describe. I fix these by restarting Q3 until it works (usually once, worst case twice). I also randomly have an absolutely horrible FPS, which I fix by changing to just one core, then just the other core, and then back to both cores. Works like a charm every time, I have no idea and no interest in why.

I experianced insane lag when running dual core procs in q3. Actually not lag but packet loss. I tested every single thing under the sun before moving my q3 back to another machine. Sad
