Well a friend of mine has this kind of porblem . When he plays q3 his pc resets ot turns off . It happens only during playing q3 . I have no idea how to help him so i decided to ask u guys =]

problems with open gl dlls?
also could be that his graphics card is overheathing. happened to my friend to, but only in q3... the card just went berserk.

i had this problem with another q3 based game ..the fan was broke on my gfx card and i had set /com_maxfps to 0 - it burnt out. :roll: :roll: :roll:

1. overheating CPU
2. bad/not stable - power suply unit
3. if he has ati card, it wouldnt restart pc / VPU recover would restart GPU, but not whole pc..

Maybe there lives some kind of animal inside the computer, perhaps a bird or a biker mice, that simply doesnt like q3. So every time he tries to play q3 the animal gets angry and turns off the computer.

i have a mouse in my comp (he likes to be warm so he sleeps on my hdd) and he doesnt turn off my comp...

I agree,but also it could be overheated graphics card thats getting ready to burn out,and beelieve me,I would know since I recently had my GF3 Ti200 burn out on me and I had the same symptoms...
Can u tell us how long it takes for the pc to restart...my restarted after 5 minutes max whren playing q3...sometimes after 10 seconds

gfx card prob imo, take the cover of your pc if it takes longer to shut down buy some fans 
edit: written while very drunk so its doesn’t make total sense, but there is something there I think

i had the same problem too...and just removed one side of the housing...so the cooling is better...just take good care of the dust!
it works fine now
