I told you I've tried anything anyone will suggest a couple of times already Winking

I have no problem with pbsetup.exe or the files it creates. It's the FUCKING pbsvc.exe that fails at creating something and also at telling me what it is it can't do, so I can't do it either (even though I am 105% sure it would be the easiest thing ever to fix if I just knew what file is not allowing to be overwritten).

I've now spent over 14 hours to fix this piece of shit, googling the entire internet, reinstalled near ten times (and punkbuster near... 30?), looking through regedit, checking all files, comparing with others, sending a ticket to evenbalance and, after a day, of course receiving a completely retarded copy'n'paste-job telling me to do all the things I ALREADY SAID IN MY INITIAL TICKET THAT I'VE DONE AND TRIED, and right now I am at exactly the same point I started at. Because there's just one tiny thing that is wrong and that thing is untouched, whatever and wherever it is.

I'm so fucking pissed off I could explode... It makes it even worse that I would love to post a massive post at Infinity Ward's forums, except the problem is punkbuster and not the game itself hence I would be redirected to the lovely non-people at evenbalance again.

One of those many times I wish there was a nice large, heavy punching bag for indoor apartment use/abuse...

Hmm how do u know it's a PB problem, maybe it's the game itself. If u r 105% sure Big grin , then try to install the game in other computer and check if there is something with ur computer or internet firewall. I have a problem with Cod 4 also, but no the online gaming. I'm missing one file, some shit image, it says it's truncated, so I looked a solution all over the net and I didn't found anything, so I gave up, so F...k Single player, I'm on Multiplayer only, level 40 though ...peace...

I know it's a PB problem because
1. The error message when I install the game has the PB logo in the bottom bar
2. pbsvc.exe clearly reports that PnkBstrB.exe fails to do **** all
3. I can play just fine multiplayer on non-PB servers

I don't even have a firewall, unless you count the never ever enabled Windows one in which all PB processes are specifically allowed anyway (confirmed by pbsvc).

So yeah it's just screwed and it's PB. No need to bring another computer in (if I would even have another one that could run CoD4...), already know the problem and installing it somewhere else won't make it work on mine x)

But seriously man don't waste your time xD It's F.U.B.A.R and I rather just waste my own time up to christmas trying to fix this pos. I'd consider formatting except the 1(!) person with the same problem already tried that without any effect, and also I'd rather eat trinitrotoluene than reinstall all my music plugins again...

So sad because the non-PB servers are really fun until some 360-lockon-aimbot asshats and clearly wallhacking swear-to-god-i'm-clean wannabes come in and tear it up with over 700 score when the second best doesn't even have 200...

what about working it with safe mode + networking?

or pressing ctrl+shift+esc and ending the processes you dont need... maybe there is a conflict?

i feel for your pain. the game is awesome... i wish i could play it... *sigh*

Safe mode, even with networking, doesn't let pbsvc.exe do its job Sad

And I tried booting it with as few as possible processes running, no success...

Just saw they released 1.4. I wish it had anything to do with PB and would magically fix everything, sadly the changelog doesn't even give me hope Sad

whiney kids that you cant kick, too many americans (not all of them ofc thats just stupid, just the 13 yr old ones that say constaly "omg""omg""omg")*shudders*, not as many controls, not as much choice in gameplay eg. hardcore mode is the only mode i play, noob mode is poor, getting matched against people from places that mean they will lag and their hitbox be half way across the map from what your aiming at, easier to xp, rank up and complete challenges on pc oh and as you said, no kb or mouse

yes its better on pc for sure, i tried xbox, ps3 and pc versions, the less controls seems to annoy console players the most, they cant seem to look around corners Tongue

well sure if you have a pc to run the game fine. get it for that, or if you take it that serious. i got the game today on ps3, and i've enjoyed it alot so far. its great fun, and in high definition its a beauty. keyboard and mouse support would be nice but i'm not complaining. if you dont like it on console dont buy it, or sell it. simple.
