FF is not the right answer on spam:
if u play FFA, FriendlyFire becomes useless!

Not the spam is to blame,
but the fact, that hit easier (more often),
if u spam!

Instead u should TRY (on another conf)
and play around with the hitbox-size.

Or work with Ammo-Regen! (Y)

I havent played q3 for 3 years or so. But today I tried to connect to BEER.FREEZER and of course there were lots of new maps which i tried to download. It was one file I tried to download directly from the game server. Don't recall the name but it was something like "z-xp...".

Anyway, I aborted it first two times since it went to slow. But the third time it didnt move(0kb/s). So I tried reconnect. After that the magical word BANNED. appeared. And here I am, wondering if I should bother at all or just stay away from q3

And Short, for new maps....easiest way (at least it was for me since I started) was to go to spider page of the server I was on at that moment and DL-ed the maps I didnt have.

If you dont have current map...try exiting the game and just open beer spider page:
http://www.excessiveplus.net/spider/beer-freezer

and click on the current map name....that should start the download of the map right away.

I think you should at least try play some maps before you decide should you come back or not

Yes.
That evening some noob was banned with aimbot on.
And some ppl, including me (after I went back to server to play in 1-2 hours) got this msg.

The thing that was helpful for me was going to player settings and changing the default name to some new one (since I execute my name.cfg from within the server the old nick stays default)...after that, all was again normal.

ps.no need for new cd-key.
