How to read and understand statistics ?

In TDM situation is easy to analyze. IMO is most important difference KILL-DEATH, player who have bigest diference is the best. In most cases that can view in efficiency. In game #3 EQUILIBRIUM is best player he have best efficiency and KILL- DEATH = 20 :!: and ačmost biger FPH. Neutrino is reason why NOR lose that map. He have KILL-DEATH = -23 and worstess EFF = 33. As You see EFF is most important parametar.
Regards.
yeah thats true in tdm kills/deaths is most important, and the same is true for 1v1, then we look at ffa and this hypothesis goes bye bye, it turns into kill the most the fastest and not the most efficiently, the number of times you die becomes irrelevant, infact you can still win with most deaths, also with so much use of rail the onus sways slightly to rail accuracy although not the most important you can almost bet that when you play a real good game and you are feeling hot and the flow is there, then your average rail accuracy will be up by at least 8%
would be good to look at a game of freeze more statisticly how deaths/kills affect results with the element of thawing thrown in.
i remember there was a stats page before.. cant seem to find it now, does anybody have a link?
In TDM, K/D is the most important statistical number, EFF is useless in comparison (personally I think it's useless in this mod with the server settings used, end story). Some one with a larger gap between kills and deaths, bringing in more points for the team, CAN (and it does happen) have a lower EFF than some one who has a low amount of deaths (and/or damage taken) and a medium amount of kills (and/or damage given) giving him a nice(r) personal percentage (= EFF); still in relation to the other player he was not as useful to his team.
I say statistical because stats do not in the slightest define who is or played the best (but often helps out a lot of course) - just adding this because intentional or not, that is what some previous posts have insinuated or claimed straight out. Take into consideration less productive but equally important tactical spots (good ol' "some one's gotta do it"), putting heavy pressure on the enemy (if that will cause them problem/incomfort/disrupt tactics and/or flow) at the cost of pretty stats, etc etc... ...and stats are good, but what can sometimes really hurt the real "player of the match" who worked his ass fending off the best opposing player at the hardest spot, is when everyone who just look at screenshots or don't understand the game praise "the wrong guy" (who probably played well, but had a considerably easier job) and maybe even talks "smack" about him because his stats weren't awesome that one game.
Not to "lecture" anyone at all and I assume/hope there's a bunch of people who already know, just pointing it out as a lot of people genuinely don't think this far. Love the stats - I really do myself - but don't let them be the ultimate factor of who is the best.
yes damn right, this confirms i truly am the best player and why im always at the bottom of the scoreboard
gg
whats fun is when u play ctf and the whole thing turns into a nightmare . pretty much the same altho to a much lesser extent for tag.
In TDM, yes...
i remember doc sending me a score with 50 death, 50 kills and an eff of 44. In terms of "importance to the game", he was 50/50 (DUUUH) , but cos of non-instakill weapons and such, eff didnt turn out to be the most important factor there.
And yes, in TDM, it is about the kill to death and suicide ratio.
Oh yeah, another flaw with Eff is (just checked)... it doesnt take suicides into account either. Nor does it count teamkills.
In fact, the most fair point of calculating a player's efficiency to the team's progress would be the:
"Player Score to Player Deaths" ratio, should FriendlyFire be turned on.

the ultimate factor of who is the best.
Of course not, presence of letter "H" in your nickname is...

need i say more?
i am no math expert so if i get it wrong dont burn my ass, but from what i know, to truly talk stats you need to first ask a question that needs answering or stats become too ambiguous to make any sense from.
example:- is there a correlation to suggest that in freeze that the team that gives the highest damage is mainly the winning team.
null hypothesis:- the fact the winning team gives the highest damage is not by chance.
stats can prove or disprove this, you just need collected data and a formula that can crunch the numbers.
does anyone have access to a stats program? some truths about the game could be revealed for example how the stats compare to other mods..
another way stats could be used in real situation is to prove whether someone is cheating...
as for determining who played best in a match, it all depends as what you class as best..
I can agree that from statistics TAG, CTF hard you can find so much if you did not saw CW. Statistics can show a lot in 1 vs 1, TDM, FFA & CA even you did not saw CW.
I wrote that on suggestions topic for 1.04 release.
Follow that link in that quotation.
