Quake 4 and my crap pc - 6600gt 128mb or 256mb?

Okay so my pc isn't too great, but i want it good enough to play quake 4 happily...

My pc: Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz
1 Gig of DDR RAM
80 Gig HD
Geforce 4200 Ti 128Mb AGP
350watt power supply (this should be enough)

Now i've seen the recommended specs for q4, and it appears that i have everything sorted, apart from the graphics side of things...my geforce 4200 ti being old and all. Now my birthday is coming up and i have decided to go for a new graphics card, as i cant afford a brand new pc

The cards i have decided to go for are either the Geforce 6600 gt 128 agp or the 256mb agp version. The 128 version is around 120 pounds, and the 256mb version 150 pounds.

can anyone give me some suggestions on what card i should go for, and anything else that i might need to run q4 good.

Ps. Im not interested in going for any radeon type cards for this pc, if i chuck a radeon in my machine, i worry that it might fuck my pc up...lol, as its already in a state as it is, and i haven't ever had probs with my nvidia card.

actually i was have 4600ti long time a go .. it was just shit and slow wont work at all ... and wery expensive .. i change it to radeon 9600pro and i still have it less 100 euros in her fin ... by my self i got new comp at next cristmas and videocad is for sure radeon x800 256 or 512 ..and it ROCkSSS wery hard

thats why i have 2 Pc i dont know witch one is beter Happy

realy no shit.....

in games a64 is faster, in other aps who knows....

both cpu are rely fine

on p4 mine mem can work only at 220, and on a64 platform the same mem working withnout troubles at 260

thats cool, but all i really want to know is weather the 6600gt 128, or 256, will do the job for my pc, no so bothered about the money as such, obviously if the 128 version will be more than good enough then ill go for it as its the cheaper option, but if the 128mb isnt going to cut it, then ill have to go for the 256.

pls take the 256, if u prefer really the 6600 gt

6600 gt has also good benchmarks ond d3 if i remember right, but u need for this games a 256 mb card, imo, especially its not much more expensive as a 128 mg card

cheers mowly, ill go for the 256mb then. I also checked the X800 series of cards, but there a little more expensive, and im not trying to get my pc to be able to play q4 with everything maxed, because, even with an x850 thats not gonna happen on my pc..just want to play the game good...so im settling with the 6600gt 256 ;-0
