well this might not be the place for it but hell....

i have q4 working brilliantly BUT i cant play online Sad now i got my dad to open the ports on the firewall...but he rekons q4 sends the data back on a random port...does anyone know how to fix this...if not q4 is gunna be used as a frisbee Big grin

q4 probs...

try to activate UPNP (universal plug and play) in your router.
if u have a software firewall on pc, set quake4.exe to "all allowed"

take a look into this topic http://forums.excessiveplus.net/viewtopic.php?t=3252&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=upnp

but it helps when u can be more exacly with "cant play on the internet"
- u can get a server list?
- u wait "month" for autorithation?
- u activate ur cdkey right - for multiplayer too?
- u use a "copy" and not an original?
and so on.

q4 probs...

i got ati vid card with newest drivers and dont know why always q4 hangs when VPU Recover is OFF! Sometimes i can ply almost 1 hour but sometimes 5 mins is enough to get this message "graphic serv was restarted ..." [When VPU Recover is ON always says: yours graphic serv was restarted.]

Still fighting with it and no solution so far....

- u wait "month" for autorithation? should be more like a bug since I've seen this reported on seevral forums anyone has any solution yet?

thats bacially it, i dont get a server list, it says scanned 0 out of 4 servers but when i put a direct ip in off the net for a Q4 server its just keeps saying waiting for authorization, i loked in the console, and it goes connecting, waiting, conn...etc

THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED THANKS TO THE AWESOME MOD I CREATED.

Hi all.

I had problems with Quake when I first bought it.

I then decided to hex edit quake4.exe until I got the outcome I wanted.

Yesterday, I finally made my project a success.

Basically, This Patch will replace your current Quake4.exe in the root folder.

What it does:
This patch skips the CD-Key check, and doesn't send any information to idsoftware servers. IE, your online status will be hidden from them. (Ideal for any users who d0w104d3d their copy. It also includes a no-cd hack, which was supplied by DEViANCE.

However, please read the NFO file included for full information and greetz

good job dude.. not that i need since i got original but nice to make this fix..
it is other ways to make it skip the authorisation, but its more complicated then using your "patch".

VAseline released it one month before you did, actually by opening both files in hex workshop they match exactly and have same moddifcation date, so in short this is just a re-pack.
