Hi
I need some help with my connection.
I have this most of the times when Im on any server. I got a low ping around 30-40 but it is constantly going up to values like 280, 450, 999 for like 1-1,5 seconds.
When it drops back to normal its playable again for 5-10seconds then its up high again. I have been trying to change values of rate when i set it to 10000 it lowered my basic values of ping but I still have that spikes on lagometer and unstability.
Hope some of you guys have an idea how to stop this annoying wave of changing high and low ping.
There are some situations when my ping is stable and on 40-50ms but that is happening like once every week.
Speedtest and pingtest is not showing the problem there everything seems to be fine.

Hmmm looks weird, probably a provider side problem, think you can't do much about it.

I guess it's useless to ask if you checked for any spywares or stuff that would have infected your computer lately, right ?

Are you plugged in using ethernet ? Are you the only one sucking out bandwidth like a crazy hungarian pothead Happy ?

Re: Jumping ping

On those big pings its clear that those packets are dropped somewhere on the line.

I'm suspecting some form of Mal-ware on your connection. Either you or your mates that share same connection.
Its enough to have one of those who are spam sending emails using your connection to get exactly these symptoms.

Check the network graph of the router if you have access to it when you're not in game to see it in action.

Another thing might be some update. Do you have the Windows Automatic Updates on? Is it configured to download updates and then installs them without notice? Torrent opend in background? You are using an accelerator downloader?

The same questions could be asked to your mates that share the same connection.

If you just cannot find the cause of it and the graph doesn't show any network ask your ISP.

use /tracert when the big ping happens to see if you can detect where are the packets dropped (find where it stays the longest time or where the packets can't pass)

The ISP can help you with these problems since they have tools for tracking what is going on. Or they could just offer you a special connection just for you with special payment involved ...
