Right. I'm running RHL9 and want to run a server (not dedicated) with my own settings.
Have created my config (edited a copy default) in conf directory. Ammended the server.cfg to use my config. Set motd.txt and rotation.txt to my liking.

Start quake from the console with:
quake3 +set fs_game excessiveplus +exec server.cfg
but it doesn't start. Looking through console output, it says that I am banned from the server.
Anyone come across this, or just know how fix it?

Any help very welcome.

Biff

Sorted!

I eventually sorted it. Big grin
Instead of editing a copy of an existing config, I created a new text file and started from scratch.
