e+ not working on mac

Hello all...

I did a search for this problem and can't find an answer.
I'm trying to run e+ on a mac (OSX tiger 10.4.2), and the latest q3a point release. I've extracted the excessiveplus folder in my applications/quake3 folder. The game starts ok, but when I try to connect to any server it just quits. No error, nothing.
When I try to load e+ from the mods menu, I'm not sure if it's actually loading (anyway to know? does the menu change or something?) and again connecting to a server just quits.

Also, after loading the mod, I try to start a multiplayer server or a single player game and it does the same - just quits.

Any help appreciated - many thanks!

Everything sounds weird .. Works fine for me I have Tiger 10.4.2 and I have no problems .. :I
